It’s the time of the year to be thankful and spend a lot of time with your loved ones. Which also means entertaining, hosting and lots of carb loading. Once the temperatures drop, everyone starts craving some warm goodness and, let’s face it, all of the classic dishes are carb heavy—not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s the holidays so we all get a free pass, right?!
Because everyone will eat heavy meals (and plenty of cookies!), I like to keep it healthy and light for appetizers. Like this Seasonal Vegetable Crudité. It’s such a fun and easy way to serve veggies.
Another great trick I’ve picked up is setting up a little bar cart with all of the essentials. A crudité plate, a salad, a few Dixie® Paper Plates, napkins, and even an Apple Cider Punch with extra glasses.
This allows everyone to help themselves. And you get to enjoy their company without having to serve anyone. Plus, Dixie® Paper Plates are super durable so they also mean no dishes. So rejoice and have a great time!
You can pick up the Dixie® Paper Plates at Dollar General, as well as basically anything else you need to decorate your soiree and beyond at fraction of the cost. See here for a coupon on how to save even more on the already value-driven prices at Dollar General!
Back to the crudité. My favorite part of using these seasonal vegetables is that they’re grilled. Not only does grilling the veggies add to their flavor, but it also makes it a warm crudité.
You could use any assortment of vegetables you find. I love using root vegetables as well as other seasonal fall and winter veggies. I tossed the acorn squash in some light olive oil and cinnamon and then drizzled with agave sauce. You also have not lived until you had a grilled onion tossed in coconut oil and a little sea salt. Yum. A simple hummus that you could even pick up at Dollar General serves as the perfect dip.
What are some of your favorite easy appetizers?
