Experts say that to define your personal style you should choose three words that best describe your aesthetic or vibe. I decided to apply this to my Thanksgiving tablescape. Earthy, casual and modern—here is a look at my inspo for the holiday season.
One of the highlights of the week was hosting a friend for lunch. I kept it simple by picking up a few favorites from Trader Joe’s and then simply assembling a salad and a flatbread. Our lunch involved very little prep and even less cooking. In this season of life it feels much more important to spend quality time with friends and family rather than all day in the kitchen. I’m 100% on board with ordering takeout when gathering or making easy meals to maximize time.
I opted to make a farro salad inspired by Half Baked Harvests’ tabbouleh recipe. And I also “made” a Mediterranean flatbread using ciabatta bread and layering it with marinated artichokes, Kalamata olives, roasted red pepper and grilled chicken.
3 words for Thanksgiving Table ~ Earthy Casual Modern
So in the spirit of this being the hosting season. And as many of us prepare to host family gatherings, I thought I’d share some inspo for my Thanksgiving tablescape. As I mentioned, this season I’m going for earthy, casual and modern.
Modern Vibes
Last year I purchased these matte black utensil set from Amazon and I don’t think I’ve ever received more compliments on silverware before. Over the year, with daily use we did experience a little chipping, but overall I feel these were an excellent buy. Heavy and stylish and feel luxxe in your hands. I’m purchasing another set so we have enough for our holiday dining.
Our wine glassware is also from Crate & Barrel. They definitely add a modern touch.
I’m reusing our candle holders from a few years back. The matte black gives modern and then the ivory candles give earthy.
Earthy Notes
The linen napkins are a bit of a splurge, but they complete the look in my opinion.
As decor, I’m planning to create little vignettes of dried florals in earthy tones and a few white pumpkins—I’ve been picking up one or two every time I visit Trader Joe’s. But if they won’t make it, I also spotted these faux pumpkins as back up.
Casual Balance
I’m also using our everyday plates for Thanksgiving dinner. They’re modern and chic and have also proven to be a great buy since we use them daily. I love that they look sleek and at the same time casual enough for everyday.
