It’s so fun to reminisce about this day, and the wonderful week we got to spend with our dear friends and family. We were so lucky to have so many people who love us join us in in Cancun for our destination wedding festivities.

To play with our Venezuelan and Russian sides, we decided to welcome the guests to their tables with mini bottles of vodka for my side, and mini bottles of tequila for Mauricio’s side. These tiny bottles served as escort cards.

My mother and sister made beach bags full of goodies to cure a hangover as party favors. It was so lovely to see the guests use their beach bags throughout their stay at the resort.

I kept our table decor simple, with bright pink roses as centerpieces, and then added maracas in purple hues, for each guest. I made tiny labels for the maracas, which encourages guests to shake them to see us kiss.

For the table numbers, I recycled the paper I used to make envelope liners for our invitations, which helped tie them to the actual event.

The reception venue overlooked the beach, and provided a much needed breeze. Our DJ did a wonderful job, combining Latin, Russian and top 40 tunes, which kept everyone dancing.

I’m not sure if you’re supposed to have the best time ever on your wedding day, but we really did. Now that it’s a year later, I am beginning to understand why people renew their vows, they just really want to relive this day, again. I do too, but we’ll wait a couple of years. [If you missed the other wedding posts, you can see them here, here and here. You can find details of my dress here.]

Besos,

Alina
