To create these living room style ideas I used canva. It’s very easy to use, and I found the process to be very helpful. I started by adding items I already have, like the couch and pillows and the rug. However, I am eyeing this couch as a replacement.

In fact, when I decided to refresh my living room that’s exactly what I did. I started by changing out the rug. Then added new throw pillows and finally upgraded our curtains to these Amazon drapes that look custom.

If you need to be budget conscious, one of the best ways to update your space is by switching out accessories. New throw pillows, rugs, a lamp, and curtains can make a huge difference in making your living room feel modern and new.

Another simple way to refresh your space is to add accessories. Coffee table book, new vase or a decorative piece can really elevate your space on a budget.

Build a Classy Living Room

There are simple rules for creating a beautiful space.

1. First, you should pick your design style. Boho, modern, beachy, classic, farmhouse—whichever style you gravitate towards the most should drive your decorating ideas. Mixing several styles in the same space will make your living room look like it’s a hodgepodge of items instead of an expertly styled space.
2. Pick your color palette. A well styled space should have only few complimentary colors. In fact, a well designed living room should have three colors.

In my proposed design, I chose natural wood elements, cream /grey and brown/black tones. Find a color you gravitate towards the most and then add two more colors that compliment your dominant color.
