Five Ways to be Your Own Valentine

Easy, everyday style with a chic YSL bag, flattering peplum top and great booties

In the spirit of focusing on self-care this year, I thought it would be appropriate to write a post that focuses on ways to show yourself love and care. If you follow me on instagram, you may have caught that last week I got a massage. It really forced me to think about how important it is to take the time to do something nice for yourself. (Even when someone else forces you.) It shouldn’t feel wrong to treat yourself, as much as you treat others. So, here are five ways to be your own Valentine, because when we feel happy and cared for, we are much better people, partners, parents, workers, citizens, humans—right?

Get A Massage

I have a friend that gets massages regularly. She doesn’t splurge on clothes, or eating out as much, but she does get a rub down monthly. If you’re not the type to get a massage or a facial regularly, why not treat yourself to this little slice of luxury?

Last weekend was my first time getting a Thai massage, and for me that was a game changer. I enjoyed that experience so much more than a typical spa massage. After the massage, I sat down for a little tea. All of it felt like a special treat, and really the best gift I could have gotten myself.

Don’t recruit friends, don’t wait for someone to organize it for you. Call, book and make it happen. Next on my list are a facial and also acupuncture.

Have a Coffee Date

Not with a friend or a significant other, but with yourself and maybe a very tasty dessert. In a world in which everyone counts calories and skips dessert, why not spend an afternoon at a fancy hotel lobby, or a bakery order a latte and a big slice of pie. I can’t think of anything more heavenly than a few minutes of people watching and cake eating. Can you?

Buy New Shoes

You know the ones you’ve been eyeing up but haven’t purchased. The ones that seemingly would work with everything you have in your closet already. Life is short. Buy the shoes. Or that handbag. You work hard, you deserve it.

I just got these, and I am obsessed. Can you blame me, they’re 70% off!  Also these are gorgeous and only $36! Velvet is definitely the texture of the year, and I love how these can work with any outfit, from jeans to a dress.

If shoes are not your thing. How about a bag. Did you know you can buy gently used designer bags from Trendlee.com? I recently splurged on this YSL bag, and it was nearly half the price, while it looked brand new!

Champagne and Face Mask Party

Bubbly, because it makes everything more fancy and face mask because it’s an easy way to do something nice for yourself. Maybe it’s a bath, or an at home manicure. Whatever it is, make it special, festive and healing for yourself.

Face masks not your thing? How about a DIY mani, instead? Also, I recently joined the California wine club. This means wine can arrive to you monthly, while we all need it!

Make a Plan

Nothing makes me more excited than having something to look forward to. Maybe it’s for your birthday, maybe it’s a simple dinner party in your home. Maybe it’s for a girls weekend. Make a plan, research it, invite others, and write it in pen on your calendar.

You are SO right! I’m a much better wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend when I invest in a little bit of “me” time as well. Number three is my FAVE!
