How to Make the Dill Sauce

To prepare the sauce add horseradish, mayonnaise, garlic, fresh dill and lemon to sour cream or yogurt and mix well. Reserve some sauce to coat on the salmon for cooking.

The trick to preparing this dish is to add a sliver of the prepared sauce to the salmon, before it finishes cooking in the oven. This helps add flavor to the fish and creates a beautiful golden crust. I also like to add a few slices of lemon right before broiling the salmon.

Here is How You Bake the Salmon

Line a baking pan with heavy-duty foil. grease lightly. Rub the fillets with olive oil and salt and pepper liberally. Place salmon fillets on the greased pan. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes.

Take the fillets out of the oven. Rub a quarter of the dill sauce over the fish and place back in the oven. Broil for another 5 minutes. Or bake for another 5-7 minutes.

What to serve with Baked Salmon?

Typically, I like to serve this dish with potatoes. Mashed potatoes, boiled or grilled love this creamy dill sauce. But I have also served the baked salmon with rice or a simple green salad.

Can You Make Creamy Dill Sauce with Yogurt?

To make the sauce I use a combo of sour cream and mayo, but you can easily make substitutions. Instead of sour cream, Greek yogurt would work. You could even skip the mayo.

My recipe uses horseradish for the lemon dill sauce. If you’re not a fan of horseradish, you can use mustard to still get that tangy component in your dill sauce.
