A few months ago I shared how Mau and I have taken our weekends back and organized a plan that would allow each of us time for activities we love and time with friends. We even vowed to have at least one date night a month. And over the last few months our efforts have been pretty successful. But, after a few times out, dinner dates got stale and routine. So we decided to switch things up!Read on to find out more about our dating adventures.

wine worth the adventure, date ideas for couples

wine worth the thrill

First, let me say that our dinner dates weren’t exactly a snoozefest, we still very much enjoy each other’s company. It’s just that as  a couple more adventurous and day dates were actually more of our thing. So now, instead of dinner dates we have created a new bucket list filled with day date ideas we can both be excited about.

As a couple, it’s so much more valuable to enjoy doing fun things together that are not only around eating or watching a movie. But at night, those seems to be the only available options. During the day though, the possibilities are endless. And then, we are even home early enough to enjoy some pizza and Netflix!

After a full day of adventure we both love to unwind in our backyard with a little wine. Mau is more of a red wine guy, so he loves Sheep Thrills® Red Blend. It has ripe berry aromas and notes of cherry. It’s perfect for a rich pasta sauce or meat heavy dinners. During the summer months, I prefer white and really enjoy Sheep Thrills® Pinot Grigio. It’s super refreshing with fruit forward finish. I’d say sweet and flirty and perfect post adventure companion.

Dating as New Parents: What We Figured Out a Year Later! Adventurous date ideas for new parents

Since moving into our house not too far from the beach, one of our favorite things was to bike down to the beach. We’d ride along the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway), enjoy the ocean breeze, check out those gorgeous beach houses and maybe stop for a cocktail or two. Some days we’d play pool, other days we’d sit on the beach, but each time it was the best way to enjoy each other and the day.

Later that night, we sat in our backyard sipping wine and exchanging ideas for what we want to do next time. It was so refreshing to have a little day adventure, just the two of us. I guess this is exactly what they mean when they say you should never stop dating each other. It felt like the old us. The adventurous and fun us. And it felt good. So, here is our list of more adventures to come. Bonus points if you figure out which one of us suggested the activity!

Our Day Dates Bucket List
  • Paddle Boarding in Newport Beach—another favorite activity of ours
  • A visit to a gun range—I must admit it’s kind of thrilling to hold a shotgun, though I would never aim at anything other than paper.
  • Golfing—we golfed together on vacation in Nicaragua and had the best time.
  • Hotel pool date—I’m such a sucker for a posh pool with cocktails and music
  • Smash ball, beach day session—Or maybe we would just lay there, since no one has to run after a toddler!
  • Tennis—I know I’m never going to win this one, but it’s still fun to get out there and be active.
  • More bike rides—especially with a few stops at local watering halls and a game of pool.
  • Hiking—such a great way to explore SoCal and chat without interruptions.

Turns out there are quite few activities that we enjoy together and I’m really excited to date again. Hope this encourages you to get out there too. And, if you have ideas for other day dates, I’d love to hear about them, and don’t forget to pick up a bottle of Sheep Thrills Pinot Grigio or the Red Blend—a wine worth any adventure you choose.

Besos,

Alina

Date nights are just the best! Paddle boarding is definitely one of our top favorite things even though we have only done once!
