I love planning and making delicious meals for my family, but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy take out, an occasional pepperoni pizza or a hack meal—which is one made from what I find in the pantry. That’s when my staples from Walmart come in. A few favorites that can help me get great comfort food on the table for real life. Because real life is messy and unpredictable and some meals need to come together fast and easy.
A few things I always have in the pantry are Prego® Tomato Basil sauce. It’s such a great life saver and tastes homemade. Sautee veggies, add pasta and top with Prego® Italian Sauce and dinner is done. Campbell’s® Condensed Chicken Noodle Soup has saved me a few times when I realized I had nothing in the fridge. Now, I always have these items stocked along with pasta, and quinoa. That way I know when there isn’t time, I can still pull a pretty good dinner out of my mama hat for my family.

Another item you’ll find in my pantry is Campbell’s® Condensed Tomato Soup. This magic can is so great to add to sauces, but mostly it serves as the half to my favorite comfort food combo of all time: tomato soup with grilled cheese.
When there isn’t a lot of time to get dinner on the table, or it has been one of those days… and cooking isn’t going to happen I can count on Campbell’s® Condensed Tomato Soup for a quick and delicious dinner that leaves everyone satisfied. Campbell’s® Condensed Tomato Soup and my fancy grilled cheese saves the day, every time! Savory, easy and oh so yummy, this combo leaves everyone happy.
The classic tomato soup and grilled cheese combo gets a fancy twist with gruyere and swiss cheeses. I also add basil and a dollop of cream to the soup. Is there anything better than dipping a perfectly melted cheese into a steamy tomato soup?
2 can of Campbell’s® Condensed Tomato Soup
2 slices of bread
1 tbs olive oil
1 handful of shredded gruyere
1 handful of shredded swiss
While your soup is simmering on the stove following the directions on the label, take out a pan and drizzle olive oil. Place your bread on the pan and wait for the bread to toast. Remove from the pan and carefully add shredded cheese to each piece. Place the cheese on the grilled side of the bread, then combine to make a sandwich and place back onto the pan. You may need to add more olive oil. Grill until cheese has melted. Cut in half and enjoy. I highly recommend dipping the sandwich into the soup!
